New Hanover County courthouse recently introduced an online payment system, where residents can pay for probation-related costs, fines, and fees without having to stand in line.
Jan Kennedy, New Hanover County’s Clerk of Superior Court, said the system provides immediate convenience to citizens, and frees up limited parking and space for courthouse staff.
“If you come down here on any given day and you look at the traffic of the public trying to come down here and pay fines and fees, anytime, there’s a line,” Kennedy said. “[With the Online Collections and Payment program (OCAP)] you won’t have to fight with driving down here or coming through the security system, or taking time off from work.”
